I like ALL the baby coons I rescued.  AND the possums.  AND the chipmonks.  AND the skunks.  I liked the owls and hawks most of all (I LOVE birds of prey).  Deer break your heart to rehab, cause you can't get close to them like other animals... they have to be turned loose and taught to fear humans before you let them go.  And all the turtles I put together with epoxy, who were hit by a lawnmower, or a car...

And every day I ran my big businesses for parrots and rabbits?  I found hurt snakes in a box on my doorstep.  I just never knew what would be in the box, or how hurt, when I opened it...

So, to try to answer your question - they are important in nature, and provide a service to man in controlling sick rodent populations, and even sick snake populations, depending on the breed, and little harmless green vine snakes eat a lot of insects which would otherwise be a pest to man.

Each snake is designed to catch and eat the sick, diseased, or unwary, providing the survivors with instincts to survive and thrive, to pass on to their young.  With reducing habitat, and man everywhere?  These resoucesful creatures still thrive, and help out, despite us.

Snakes serve a very important niche in nature, which makes life for US easier and safer in ways we don't see every day, or even understand.

The world, without snakes, would be quickly over run with insects and rodents.  Without snakes, a sick rat could live, and pass on bad genes to many generations of babies, and etc. before it fell ill and died.  And that would end up hurting the rat population.  Every thing is CONNECTED.

Nature is about balance.  The snake provides a very vital place in the sceme of things.  It's very good at what it does.

I like snakes because they are part of God's plan, and nature's help to keep the environment healthy.

Basically - snakes are our friends.

I am a huge snake lover.  I have owned snakes since I was 11 and am now 24, I have a 6 1/2 foot Red Tailed Boa, and a 3 ft ball python, but i have also owned a rough green snake, a Great plains rat snake, and a texas rat snake.  Not only are snakes beautiful and unique animals, but they are just plain cool, easy to take care of, and you can go on vacation without having someone come and baby sit :).  I love feeding them too, that's one of the coolest things about them.

I own a cornsnake myself and he is very easy to take care of since they are solitary and don't need too much attention, but I love taking him out and letting him become twisted around my hands. He's so tame and such a great pet. They are easy to clean up after, too.

They are very different species to species with their own personalities and different colors and sizes. I love catching wild ones and feeling the smoothness slide through my fingers. I love the anatomy and how they differ from other species of animals. Did you know that they don't have ears and have thermal vision instead?

I just think they are beautiful. Maybe you need to have some experience under your belt to see it that way, but I love all snakes, even the poisonous ones.

even not as a pet i think that snakes are amazing creatures and get such a bad rap. they are one of only a few animals that use their type of locomotion and theyare the best at itl. also they have so many skills that are over looked their uncanny abilitiy to loosen thier jaw and swallow massive prey. they are not ruthless killers but just happen to become tangled in bad situations. they are usually more afraid of us then we are of them. they are beautiful creatures too. not slimy but smooth and often pretty. they are another creature on this earth and deserve to be here. snakes are kool.

I love snakes. Low maintence, quiet, don't need shots every year, don't make a big mess, you can go on vacation for a week without a sitter...what's not to love!?

i have a garter snake now.but i am soon going to get a rainbow boa.snakes make wonderful pets cause they are gorgeous,have a long life..constrictors can live for up to 30 years..and they can weigh close to  50 pounds.

sadly the most beautiful of all snakes like tree vipers are venomous.i once saw a king cobra in India.it was awesome.it can stand 5 feet from the ground.and stare into your eyes.the coolest snake i ever saw...

I love Royal/Ball Pythons!

I haven't got one yet but I'm hoping to get one soon. They're such pretty snakes. My friend has two and they are lovely.

i love snakes............ they are cool and look just like lizards but much more flexible.

I love worm snakes, smooth and rough green snakes, corn and pythons.

love it when they curl around my fingers.
