  1. I did when I was a kid.. I havent done one in years though

  2. Hi there, I prefer to use cross stitch charts not printed fabric as it is more accurate. Personally I grab the fabric when on sale at my local store or Ebay. I LOVE the charts from DMC which can be downloaded for free - and you can use some of them as petit point patterns for cushions etc.

I do have to say that if money is not an object and you fall in love with the design, look at the Dimensions brand as they are very posh and pretty, perfect for wall hangings.

If you are starting out I would start with a DMC pattern from the net and supplies from your local store.

Have fun, it is quite relaxing. xx

  3. I have done many cross stitches, but recently am finding it difficult as it is hard on my eyes, there is only one that i never finished, i gave it to the charity shop along with the rest of the thread to finish it and the frame, it was of a farmer ploughing a field. Try some of the sites on this page for cross stitch kits.

  4. I love doing x stitch and I finish them before starting a new one because i know if I dont it will probably sit there forever if i dont.  lol  I like to get mine off ebay typically i pay 15 or less for a kit that costs 30+ at hobby lobby.  I prefer kits because i dont have to go find the thread  everything I need is right there.  I got started doing these when I was put on bed rest when I was preganant.  Ive been doing them for about 7 years now.  Often family members get a very nicely framed and matted work  for xmas.  So I get  the enjoyment of doing it, save a little on xmas(I have a large extended family) and my family gets something beautiful they can look at for years and know a lot of thought and effort went into the present.

  5. I have cross stitched for over 20 years, and I always finish the piece I am working on before moving on to the next one. I recommend that you buy your charts, fabric and floss seperately. The supplies in kits typically aren't as high quality as what you can buy online or in stores. I don't use any floss but DMC and hand dyed. Your best bet for saving money on kits-shop clearance or use a coupon for JoAnn's or Michael's. They each typically print a 40% off coupon in the Sunday paper.

  6. cross stitching is my passion, & yes I have finished many of them. I only do tha baby or lap quilts, thats already prestamped, & prequilted, I love them when they have "alot" of work on them, I love a challenge. Im now 34, & I started when I was 25. I have finished over 10 baby quilts.

I get mine off of ebay though, because there so much cheaper then any craft stores.

I only pay between $9.99-$15.00 (& thats also including the s&h too).

I do however get my floss at the craft stores because WalMart dosnt sell floss anymore.

The only time I get the floss off of ebay is when I find a really good bargin.

Whenever I find a pattern I think is so cute, I get it.   I love cross stitching, its so relaxing. No stress either.

I dont however do the counted cross stitch, becuase you have to actually count the squares, which is harder for me, & 1 wrong move the whole pattern  is messed up.

I hope this helps you out. Good luck.

  7. i have decorated some jackets for kids, done some big pictures, loads of birthday cards. a few xmas cards and keyrings.

i also have a few unfinished bits...

ebay has loads of cheap kits.

  8. I love x stitching. Just finishing a big kit called the ' watering hole' I'm now on the back stitch which i'm finding a bit difficult cos it's in such detail.

After this i'm going to do a butterfly scroll.

I buy a lot of my kits when i go to craft exhibitions. There's one in manchester on Aug 29th 30th and 31st - the stich and creative craft show. You could spend all day there!! Not only do they have x stitch, they have all kinds of craft items u could think of.

  9. I enjoy doing x-stitching. and yes I do finish them . I have made pillows from the picture I had x stitch but about everything that I finish I have gave it away for presents to relatives.

  10. i like doing cross stitch i have completed a gasha girl and i am in the process of completing a snow man one. you can get them from crossstitchworld.com, countrycrossstitch.com and crossstitchcrazy.com

  11. I love to cross stitch, I have a real passion for it!  I finish most of the projects I start.  Some of them I buy as a kit but many of them I just buy the charts as I have almost all of the dmc flosses and plenty of fabric; it is cheaper to kit it up yourself than buy as a kit usually.

I have made so many precious items.  I have made framed pieces, bellpulls, pillows, boxes and more.  I have a patience to stitch.  It is definitely for people who do not mind sitting still for long periods of time on a regular basis.

I get a lot of my charts from eBay, always paying 25% or less than the cost of retail.  I also buy from 123stitch who always give 10% off of retail and JJ's Collectibles usually give 20% off on national holidays.  Joann Fabrics always has a discount or free shipping deals and they have tons of kits.

Please see my blog for my cross stitch finishes.

  12. I finish about 90% of the ones I do.  It is time consuming sometimes but rather enjoyable.  I buy kits on ebay.  I also go to Hobby Lobby when they clearance out there cross-stitch pattern books.  They are just books so you have to buy the thread and everything separate but you can get them from anywhere from 49 cents to $7.  I also look around at yard sales.  I have found several complete kits at yard sales for less than $3.00 a kit.
