I agree, Winnipeg is great. Very strong art community. Ethnic microcosm of the world huddled together on the cold prairies. Famous for: the golden boy (statue on dome of provincial legislature), Neil Young, Randy Bachman, Fred Penner, David Steinberg, General strike of 1919.

I LOVE Winnipeg!!!!!! The winters are cold but because the air is so dry, it doesn't absolutely destroy you like you'd suspect, even when the temperature drops to -30.  

It's the friendliest folksy town you will ever find.  I love Winnipegans, and I love that West End Cultural Centre.  And the Forks, and the Dalnavert museum.

I can't wait to go back up there for the Winnipeg Folk Festival!!!!

And you get a great mix of natives, Ukrainians, Poles, Swedes, Jews, Scots, and Asians. It's really cool.
