  1. I dont, because I think elementary school is the time when children learn the most about social interaction.

  2. us eighth grade and loving it

  3. Well, you have your ups and downs, but hey, what are you going to do?

Pros, is that oyu can travel ANYWHERE and not have to miss school.

Cons: How do you make friends?

  4. i HATED homeschooling.

not only do you not get enough social time.

    with other kids.

but you dont learn how to accept different types of people.

    not fun.

    not good.

    ew homeschool.

  5. I know several kids who homeschooled through middle school. The ones I know best have always had the option of going to school if they'd wanted to. They didn't want to. Some have previous public school experience and just don't want to be in that situation again. They are far more self-confident and happier doing their schooling at home. And they love all the extra time they have to pursue interests inside and outside of the home.

I'll add that the homeschooled kids I know get as much social time as they desire.

  6. My son is in seventh grade, and loves homeschooling during these years. We believe in self-directed living and learning, so maybe that's the difference.

He says that he likes it better because what he learns sticks better, and he has more time with his friends than in school.

The masses speak.  This is a great comic book strip about school.

  7. I think that it rocks! I mean, You can go at your own pace, and if you don't understand somthing, you can go over it!

  8. I would have loved it!

I'm in high school now and still not home schooled.

Homeschooling is different for everyone - try it and if you can keep up with it, do the work, and still be socialized then stick to it... if you can't.. go to a public school.

  9. Home school is a bad idea...

  10. Woah that is so weird that you asked.. BC i Just started doing that this year and I thin it sSoO much better than public school!

  11. I do..I have a son that graduated being homeschooled and 2 others that are still being homeschooled. For more information on how it works for me and the online charter school that we use go to http://homeschoolanswers.blogspot.com

It is a great place to share information on homeschooling as well

  12. Its better as long as you actually do the work. Most kids (including myself) didn't/don't do the work and it hurts them later on.

  13. My son is homeschooling middle school, and he loves it.  He loves getting to go at his own pace, being able to study elective subjects that really interest him rather than just picking from what's offered (how many middle schools teach Greek and Botany?), and having the free time to be involved in more things.

(And here we go with the social thing again...I know this isn't answering your question, but for those who said that homeschoolers never make friends, please rest assured we don't chain our kids to their desks and never let them leave the house.  My son, as well as many homeschoolers I know, is more socially active because his schedule is his own.)

You want to be careful about saying it's "better" than public school, though...both are valid choices that depend on the child and the family.  There are children that need the competitiveness or structure of the classroom in order to excel (given a great teacher, of course), and there are those that feel stifled and restricted by it.  That's why both options exist :-)

I'm glad you like it though - keep it up!

  14. sooooooooo much better than public, although i am going for high school

  15. I think home-schooling is a serious mistake. I was once giving a lecture where I was asked what I thought was the biggest problem that children face and I replied, "parents."  The decisions made by parents affect their children for the rest of their lives. Yet many of these decisions are based upon religious and political preferences that haven't been given sufficient critical thought.

  16. I do and I think its GREAT! Although it has some down sides like they give you lots of homework :( You just have to live with it. Just like everyone else in middle school :) I had a choice of staying in public school or not and I choose no because well all of my brothers were and I aw how it was wonderful and so I wanted to join and my mom put me in :) And now I think its great.

  17. I've got two middle school aged kids at home and they love it (so do I). They're both writing like crazy right now for NaNoWriMo. If they were at school they wouldn't have nearly as much time to write and do other things they like.

  18. i did homeschooling through middle school it sucked
