  1. A REAL CHAMPION INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE COURTS.

Talking like a tennis fan, tennis player and catarinence directly from Florianópolis SC Brazil, said, honestely, that I love these genius.

Gustavo Kuerten is a icon. He was champion of clay and when he was on full form no one was able to beat him, even spanish clay specialists could not beat him. He was former no.1. when brazilian football team was not performing good he gave the courntry happy moments by his superb performance in tennis court. He was great fighter and he showed his fighting abilities many times and won title with shoulder and thigh injuries. He will be remembered by his super fighing skills.

I am brazilian and so proud to have such a great tennis player as a countryman. Besides being a great guy and aware of his position in the world, helping those most in need, he's a funny and adorable person, who was the biggest star of brazilian tennis!!! Good luck Guga and thanks for everything... Was a pleasure, and still is...

You will always be in our hearts, we'll miss you, always my tennis Idol. Thanks for the inspirations.. stay cool. Bye Guga !! Love you forever!

  2. I had no idea who he was (I'm only 20 and only a tennis fan since like start of last yr) but I almost cried watching him!! He seems like he was a really awesome guy, a real sweetheart, and its always sad watching greats retire. I'm dreading the day it happens to Fed, Guga went out in a very classy way tho good on him! He made a great impression :)

  3. same here- I had no clue who he was until I saw him smiling and hearing the crowd and "this could be his last set" and I figured he must be retiring. And sure enough it kept getting more emotional. I've only been into Tennis about 6 years and only been a "true" fan for about two where I try to follow everyone. I'll be looking on Tennis Channel to see if his was one of the Tennis Classics that they show

  4. He's amazing. I was very fortunate to see him play live in Toronto, but would have loved to see him play at Roland Garros. Do you remember the match against little Mike Russell, where he was nearly eliminated from the French Open in an upset? What a comeback! His smile, his hair, his vibrant clothing, his rhythmic grunting, I will miss it all.
