Two cars leave an intersection. One car travels north; the other east. when the car traveling north had gone 6miles, the distance between the cars was 2 miles more than the distance traveled by the car heading east. If the eastbound car traveled x miles, what is the distance between the cars in terms of x?

isn't it X+2?

  1. I think x=6 and the answer is 8 miles, but there really isn't enough info there.

  2. Yes, it is.  If you wanted the entire equation, you could write it as:

      X+2 = sq rt (X^2 + 36)
