  1. I assume that you are asking about a variable frequency drive.

I believe that the largest is the 101MW drive that ABB built for a wind tunnel at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va.

The largest motors that are VFD controlled are also the largest electrical machines that operate as motors. They are six hydroelectric generators installed in the Bath County Virginia Pumped Storage Station. When they went into operation, they were rated at about 380MW each when operating as motors. A VFD rated 20MW was used to start each motor and synchronize it with the power grid. After synchronization, the each motor was transferred to the power grid for operation at full power. These machines are being refurbished and increased in power rating, but the VFD starting system is probably similar to the original system.

  2. Vacuum fluorescent display

Variable-frequency drive, a speed control method for electric motors.

Virtual Floppy Driver software, to emulate a floppy drive in memory.

which one? MW could apply to either of the first two.
