Who make better travel guides: Lonely Planet or Rough Guides?

  1. They're both very good.  It's just down to you which style you prefer.  I'd go for the glossier Lonely Planet, but that's just shallow old me.

  3. Lonely Planet by far. The text is more engaging.. they include colour photos and provided intricate information about where to get local buses, things to beware of, etc,

    I have travelled to over 64 destinations and have alwasy use the LP guides. They also have a website so you can interact with other travellers before you leave!!

  4. I prefer Lonely Planet for the glossiness, but I use both as reference books so I can't complain about either.

  5. lonely planet more detailed-but the Bradt guides are supposed to be really good

  6. I use both, I can't say either are the best as 1 is better for detail in some areas, the other is best for other information.

    Read both on a place you are interested in & you will get a better idea of what to expect than reading just one.
