  1. Back twenty years ago, I made a machete , but it wasn't an ordinary machete. This machete had a hinge halfway down the handle, and the handle was fiberglass.

I sold the machete for $115.00 (one hundred and fifteen dollars US).

About two years later, I saw my machete on the television. The machete was being used in Rwanda, during a bloody civil war in that African nation. The man using my machete really had a big pile of arms and legs and the pile was getting bigger.

    Fiberglass Machete Handle.

  2. My wife's uncle was an EE way back in the day, and he worked on the guidance system for the Polaris Cruise missiles.

A classmate of mine (Mechanical) works for FN Manufacturing.  They make the M-16 and M-240 machine gun.

  3. Mechanical engineers build weapons.

    Civil engineers build targets.

  4. You need to study theology. They teach you how to curse your enemies and rain fire over them.

  5. Just wanna add up. If you want to build an "iron man" suit, you will need more programming than engineering. And i'm guessing that you need every of the above jobs to actually make a suit and it would take a LONG time. The reason why there are different engineers and scientists is to ensure that everything that is made is of high standard and to ensure high speed production.

  6. All of the above. Any engineering discipline will get you into the military hardware business.

BAe are building new carriers, sykes do subs.

If you want to be like Stark from Iron Man, I would go down the electrical/electronic or mechatronic route. These take the most smarts in my opinion;) (this has nothing to do with the fact I did mechatronics).

The most difficult part of building a suit like that is not the mechanics, its the control methods and functions. ( obviously the rocket boots are difficult mechanically as the physics just doesn't work, where to put the fuel has never been discussed)

I will never work in this field because I think that the more weapons are built ONLY means its easier and easier for people to kill people, and thats not the world I want to live in.

Just so you know most of the scientists that created the A-bomb regret it. It was their work that killed hundreds of thousands of people in the blink of an eye, and created the means for humanity to finally destroy itself.

    Just some thoughts.

If you want to go about it in a socially responsible way the japanese are making exo-suits to enable the elderly to care for themselves for longer.
