Who makes 1/1 scale promotion vehicles, like the ones at auto shows?

i know this question may be a little hard to answer but i will ask anyway. i was looking into automotive design and i was wondering what the people who design and create the 1/1 scale concept promotion vehicles were called? i am thinking of the concept vehicles you see at auto shows.

  1. Either the manufacturer's design studio or a specialty automobile body maker.  

    The people who do this kind of work are, in general, called industrial designers.  This field, which is like architecture for products, includes the design of all kinds of products from computer housings to vacuum cleaners.   2. They are made by the Research and Design department of the actual company.

    Some farm out the coachwork to design studios such as Bertone, Frua and Guigaro.
