  1. All Sears / KMART,  Craftsman products are re branded products. They are made by someone else and just have the craftsman sticker on them.

Sears / KMART purchases from the cheapest sources they can get. Their paints differ with each contract. One area may be getting paint from Pittsburgh Paints, Another area getting Dutchboy Paints because it is cheaper for Sears / KMART when things like shipping charges to the store are added to the price.

The only thing you can be sure of is the paints and stains are the cheapest Sears / KMART can find.

  2. Back in the 80's, a Canadian company retooled their entire plant because they were promised the exclusive contract to make the Sears line of paint. They let all their other accounts go elsewhere, with $ signs in their eyes.

Then, at contract renewal time, guess what happened? Sears found someone to make it cheaper, and the Canadian company was left with a paint factory they couldn't use.

I do more than price shop when I buy paint, I let my conscience be my guide.
