This would allow freeze frames to be displayed indefinitely, in effect using a TV as an oversized digital picture frame.

  1. Most DVD players allow you to turn off the screen saver function and display whatever image you wish to indefinitely. However, if you are using a CRT, plasma, or LCD screen or projector you do NOT want to display a static image for very long. The image can burn into the tube(s) or display or create image ghosting which can be hard to get rid of. TVs are meant to display moving images, not static ones.

For the record computer monitors have the same problem but it is minimized by keeping the image brightness(contrast) on the low side.
