Who makes better teachers; men or wemen?!?

Hi!

This is a statistics thing! If you are (or were) a high school student please tell me which one you prefer:male teachers or female teachers? why? what do you think makes your favorite teacher better than the other?

If it makes any differences when it comes to different fields of study please let me know.

And do not forget to say which country you study in!

male teachers. you normally have female teachers threw elementary school like i had female techers from Preschool to the 9th grade! Amazing! All female. Then when i got into highschool almost every teacher was male! So it was kinda cool! Also they are way more funny!

You have to be more specific, the general trend is that women make better elementary teachers and men gravitate more towards older students, but if you want to know who is better it only works on an individual basis.  For example, men are generally stronger physically than women, which gives them advantages in coaching and phys ed., but if a big guy tried to take my chemistry teaching job I'd crush him with my brain.  

Also are you comparing the average male teacher or the best male teachers to female teachers?  Best vs. best I'd take the male teacher, average vs. average is tough, there are a lot of cruddy teachers out there for men and women.

as the population is both male and female boht  boys and girls need both role models to look up to.

i've been teaching this boy kid for a year and  for a few  weeks i get this intern in the room- happens to be male/

well this kid who was sullen and dismissive suddenly shoots his hand up for this guy.

so in the perfect world i would team teach with a guy!

Grades PreK - 4th I would say females are better teachers. 5th - 8th males are better teachers. 9 - 12th male and females are equal.

The best teachers I ever had were my 1st grade teacher (woman), 5th grade social studies teacher (man), 11th grade Drama teacher (woman) and 12th grade english teacher (man).

I think females are better for PreK - 4th because that's the age where kids still need a lot of coddling. From 5th - 8th grade, you're slowly transitioning from a child to a p*****n then teenager and need someone to give you tough love which is why males excel at this grade level.

By 9th - 12th grade, you're pretty self sufficient and don't need excess coddling or tough love, so it doesn't really matter if your teacher is a male or female, your personality is set

As a person who has spent much of her academic career on gender studies I shouldn't be answering this questions. Caveat in place, I would say that I preferred my male teachers, mostly because they were rare. Particularly straight male teachers (again, I cringe as I type this) who were also good looking and taught Arts or Humanties. There is nothing more lovely than learning about Faulkner with a man who looks like Brad Pitt.

I want the teacher that is awesome and makes learning fun. I don't care if they are a man or a woman. But its always fun to have a guy teacher because guy teachers can appreciate a dumb guy joke every once in a while. Female teachers just don't understand the beauty in a guy joke.

primary skool teachers-females are better

sport teachers primary and secondary-males are better

in high school i liked teachers who were to extrems. by this i mean. i liked very striked teachers because they made you do the work on time and get better marks. these teachers were mainly females

also i like the teachers who were very slack so i could muck around alot in class, these slack teachers where both females and males.

males, i notice find ways to make learning more fun, and i like male teachers. teachers must look nice and present them selfs well because i hated looking at my english teacher who looked like she just got out of bed. it showd no respect for herself and i didnt respect her either. teacher must be good to look at each day and look profesional not like a slob of the street.
