What are the qualifications needed to teach Toefl? Do they make more than High School teachers?

  1. It depends on where someone teaches TOEFL. If it's for an adult ed program in the US, the prof will make more money. HS teachers usually make more too.

    If you are talking about overseas, it will almost always be less than in the US. However, you generally earn enough money to live off of in that country, and sometimes enough to save some to take home. The Middle East can pay very well; Africa and South America will be on the low side.

    Teachers at community colleges often make about the same as HS teachers. Profs at more highly-ranked universities generally earn more.

    To teach TOEFL, you'll need your degree in TESOL for most jobs. You'll likely also need some teaching experience. I had my MA in TESOL when I taught a TOEFL course, and they said they wanted the teacher to have that.


  2. Not that it should matter AT ALL, but uni lecturers earn substantially less than teachers.  In Australia that is.
