  2. 1. Driver = Taylor made

    2. Irons = Titleist

    3. Putter = Ping or Titleist

    4. Wedges = Titleist

  3. As you can see from the responses, everyone is going to have their own take on this.  I use a Cleveland Hi-Bore XL Tour Driver, Ping I-3 Irons, Odyssey Rossey Putter, and Ping Wedges.  It really gets down to what you feel the most comfortable hitting.

Also, it is very important to remember equipment matters, but mostly for lower handicapped players.  If you are just starting out, focus on getting an affordable (I've found great deals on EBAY) set of clubs, and look for cavity back irons.  You DO NOT want to buy blades or forged irons.

Go to a Golf-Smith or PGA Superstore and put with the plethora of putters they have in stock and pick the one that feels the best for you.

If I had to answer your original question based on what I read and hear, I would say the standards are:

    1. Taylormade Drivers

    2. Ping Irons

    3. Odyssey Putters

    4. Cleveland Wedges

    Have Fun!

  4. 1) Driver - Taylor Made

    2) Iron - Callaway

    3) Putter - Odyssey (made by Callaway)

    4 Wedge - Titleist

There are so many model options for each brand in it's category here. BTW, these are not necessarily my favs either, just industry leaders.

    1. Driver - TaylorMade

    2. Irons - TaylorMade

    3. Odyssey

    4. Titleist

  17. 1) Ping G2 or G5 (G2 can be purchased for  a bit cheaper and is essentially the same club)

    2) Irons Ping Eye 2's they are a classic and still out perform the latest models.  Number 1 searched for club on ebay!

    3) Putter I really like the odyssey 2 ball putter for its visual alignment.

    4) Wedges I go with cleveland cg 10 or 11

  18. Golf club preferences should depend on feel. When you pick up the club and whip the shaft, you should feel the head of the club moving, the grip should feel comfortable, and the lie should fit your normal posture. The shaft should fit your swing speed. If all those conditions are met any brand will do. In golf, it  is the mechanic who is in charge not the tools he is using.
