  1. It's a tossup between the Ferrari andthe McLaren, obviously. But one would have to say based on the results from Silverstone and Hockenheim that at the moment McLaren have an edge, if you look at the pace Hamilton was getting compared to Massa and Raiko. Kovaleinen is... an exception to the rule since he's driving terribly for the quality of his car.

  2. Cosworth did, most powerful, highest revving (2006) but at the end of the year, no one wanted it.

Renaults engine is the best allrounder, due to the fact its nearly bomb proof apart when Fernando went crazy at Spain and it is very equal in pace when used by another team, (Red Bull).

I expect the Ferrari is the quickest, in a straight line but seems under strain compared to Mercedes in cool/ damp conditions.

  3. I am saying Ferrari it has a best history behind it,

  4. there are only two teams in f1...Ferrari has the edge but Hamilton is a bull dog racer and will chance things more and is the man in the rain..

  5. Renault, they're using the engine in D.C's car three times, surely that says something.

  6. mclaren saw the race last week wat hamilton done its becase the engine is getting better and better

  7. i must say ferrari although i am a Honda fan.

  8. presently Ferrari versus the Mercedes obviously...however the most successful formula 1 engines were the Cosworths by Ford...there was a time when the grid was composed of like a platoon of Cosworths and two Ferrari engines...

The most successful turbo engines werethe ones developed by Renault, in qualifying trim ( they had engines designed just for qualifying and another for the race ) they developed power north of 1200 bhp !

  9. u cannot really say that...Honda had some great time backing McLaren with their engines ....Ayrton Senna, and Alain Prost to name a few had really good time with Mclaren(senna won 3 championships with Mclaren-Honda)....,Renault williams had some great time with nigel Mansell(won his first championship with renault williams in 1992),mercedes came back into f-1 after an long hiatus in 1994(officially with sauber) but didnt achive much sucessand switched to McLaren in 1995 and acived some great sucess after that (mostly after 1998 when they won a championship),mika haikkenen, kimi raikkonen, david coulthard being some notable drivers,

ferrari(scuderia ferrari) are although considered as the most sucessful f-1 team in history of f-1 with record of 15 drivers' championships and 15 constructors' championships won...

as such in f-1,...engines hardly matter the performance of the cars, nowadays the performance is more to do with aerodynamics and other factors...as fia has strict regulations with the development of engines....so at present the only thing f-1teams have in their hand for developing the engine is increasing the reliablity and fuel effiency which may help them gamble with the fuel strategies and reliable engine may help lessen the blowing of the engines(hondas recently were quite infamous for their constant engine blow ups).....looking at the statastics ferrari is one of the most reliable and sucessful engine on the grid..with 15 constructors and 15 drivers championships to their name...

  10. at this Moment of time its Mclaren, not saying that because i support them its because the Mercedes Engine is more consistent and more reliable through out 2007 and 2008 by the performance of this season seems like Mclaren are stronger in pace however i have to say before 2007 it was Ferrari who made the better Engine

  11. ferrari hands down!! you know why? because ferrari makes its own car and engine. all the other teams, like mclaren mercedes, rely on an engine supplier. thats why its so amazing that ferrari can do it all on its own AND stay on top of the game!! and thats for a fact!! I know every team has its ups and downs, but for the last decade ferrari has had the best reliability out of anyone on the grid. its very RARE to see a ferrari engine fail. usually if the car breaks down its something else thats minor. Im surprised no one else said this already!

  12. ferrari has won the most constructor titles. yet again STR runs a ferrari engine as does Force India and they are at the back of the pack. its really all about the team and how they develope their engines.

  13. Once the 19000rpm limit was put in place there's very little to choose between them ,whether they are a Ferrari,Toyota,BMW,Mercedes,Renault or whatever.

Since the banning of traction control driveability plays a big role but it's not known which one is the best in this area if indeed there is one.

Relioability wise they all seem to have a very good record nowadays.

Performance wise it is again next to impossible to judge which one is the best.

Speed down the straights relies on the cars aerodynamics so even if two cars have the same amount of wing and downforce one may be quicker than the other down the straight because it has less drag and not because of more power.

Engine designers have been left with very little to do in F1, they had a lot of people working in the F1 engine departments and now they are left scratching their heads.
