Who makes the best ar-15 (a2)?

Bushmaster, colt, rock river are three. FN also makes very good uppers but they are not allowed to sell on the civilian market. I don't know why.

I build match AR-15's.  There is best - and there is most expensive - frequently people's idea of best is the one with the most expensive do-da's installed........ and the rifle just isn't suitable for anything except shooting exotic expensive bullets, becomes too heavy for anything but informal plinking - and although it looks cool - it is not legal for highpower match shooting.

Some AR's will hold their investment a heck of allot better than others - a factory built real Colt, Bushmaster or Olympia Arms is the ticket here.  Shooters and collectors associate these three names with high quality factory built rifles - and pay top dollar for both new and used.

DPMS, RRA, and the 10 other suppliers of AR-15 lowers sell a TON of lowers as kits - and these get a bad reputation as inexperienced wanna be AR-15 builders butcher the parts and installations.  You will loose money buying one of these as a factory rifle and try to sell it a few years from now to anyone knowledgable - even if you have the receipt as a factory built rifle.  The up side - these are just as good as the three name brands - you can get a dynamite great shooting rifle without the premium price.

Example - I can build an awesome match rifle on a cheapo Superior lower and it will shoot and perform just as good, if not better, than a name brand rifle when I am finished.  But it will never command the price of a name brand when it comes time to sell.  AR-15 owners come in two types - one gun owners and those who own a half dozen or more and shoot them all weekend long.  If you are a one gun owner - go with a Colt, Bushmaster or Olympic Arms.  Otherwise look at the others.

DPMS has great reputation for DCM guns built for accuracy, if thats what you're looking to do.

RRA is great also, thats what I own. They gave me everything bushmaster offered at the same price with an accuracy guarantee and a 2 stage match trigger

If you are being particular to A2's

I would say RRA, Bushmaster, Colt

Noveske and LMT don't have A2 uppers but those would be the two I would say if you were looking for an A4.

With the A2 your choices are a bit more limited.
