  1. best at what?

Glock ad Springfield both are great guns. Not a glock fan personaly but that's more about how crazy people get over them than anything wrong with the gun itself.

I have a XD but don't love the trigger so it's not my best range gun. I use it for carry when camping or something outdoors.

I love my Kimber 1911 . It's my favorite gun to shoot and I think they make a great gun. I like the trigger and the thumb safety.

    no .40 though only .45.

  2. Glock... perfection.

The trigger safety is good, because in the end... the only way to fire a gun is pulling the trigger... dont put your finger on the trigger unless you want to shoot the weapon.

Glock has too much as far as innovation to be overlooked...

but just to be sure, go to a range... rent a couple different brands, and see for yourself.

  3. You know what they say about opinions.

Most people will say HK or glock.

  4. Depends on what your definition of "best" is

I like 9mm Glocks personally. They are cheap but not cheaply made, they are reliable upgradable and you can work on them your self.

I know some guys who have custom worked Kimbers that they shoot only occasionally. When you hold one of these next to my Glock the Kimber wins the beauty contest.

There's a Glock guy saying "Kimbers are what you show your friends Glocks are what you show your enemies"

  5. HK is overpriced and have terrible civilian customer service. They don't like civilians buying their guns.

    Beretta is ok

Smith & Wesson m&p's are decent with awful triggers

Sig's are good but overpriced in my opinion

Rugers are cheap and fairly reliable.. but I don't care for their guns

Springfield Armory and Glock make the best .40 pistols in my opinion. They are fairly cheap, extremely reliable and extra magazines are usually under $25.

  6. i would have to say colt has the best handguns. ive never shot one but theyve been in use by the military for a looong time. a century, if im not mistaken

  7. We have the Springfield XD 40.  It has little/no recoil, is very accurate (even for an inexperienced shooter) and fits well in both my hand and my husband's.

It is aligned more like a 1911 and the price is much easier to swallow.  ;0)

It also has a few safety features that were a draw for us.

We have a couple of others in different cal.s  but the XD is the most loved here.  **One is a Ruger in 9mm and I don't like it much, but it has been so long since I shot it I don't remember the reasons why.  Sorry.**

A side note would be that if you live in CA you'll want to find out which modles are CA "approved"  FYI the Springfield M Factor on the XD modles will not be available to CA residents.  If you live in a freedom loving state ignore that part.

I agree that it is mostly a personal preference.  You have to "feel" it out and call that one for yourself.

  8. It all depends on who you ask. Each to their own and each one you listed is jsut fine. Theres also , kimber, springfield, para, beretta, smith and wesson, sig. Take your pick. Its all gonna be about personal preference

  9. In .40 caliber, Glock, Springfield XD, Smith & Wesson M&P are all very good and close in price.  Sig and HK also very good but more money.  For a small concealment gun the Springfield EMP is available in .40 cal.  It is a reduced size 1911 type pistol.

  10. If I had to choose from your list and only had the option of .40 cal (I hate .40s) I would go Beretta 96 or Ruger p944. They are hefty guns that will absorb some of the recoil....

Now if you put Springfield Armory XD....Hands down that would be my choice.

    But that is just me

  11. Glock is hard to beat.  Glocks are accurate, user-friendly, dependable, rugged, hi cap and available in more diverse calibers than H&K, Beretta or Ruger.

H&K and Beretta are good but pricey.

Rugers share a lot of the virtues of the Glock and an even lower price tag.

Pick the one that works for you.

    H

  12. Glock and Colt.

  13. Sig-Sauer is about as accurate as they come for a production gun.  I prefer the 9 mm mostly do to the cost of ammo.

  14. I like FNH's Five Seven. I think the five seven is the best handgun to date. There are many categories you can group handguns into (EX. Most Service Time, Most Accurate, Best gun for a woman or a man, Best Home Defense, Best Concealed Carry). Also what caliber are you talking about? I am sure other users will agree, do some online studying, go to the range, try some out. Only you can determine what the best handgun is for yourself. My reasons for the Five Seven; accurate, very high capacity, armor piercing, super low recoil, dependable manufacturer, and ambidextrous.

Since you updated 40 cal. I would have to say SIG.

  15. kimber would be my first choose but out of your list I would take a glock.
