I'm planning a European trip and hope to do some reading and research beforehand. Who makes the best books or guides?

Lonely Planet?

Fodor's?

Frommer's?

Others?

Or are there specific ones that are better?

  1. I go with Lonely Planet, for all countries I have been.

I have some other series, just for fun, but would not think about traveling with them.

The eyewitness guides are nice to see where you want to go, but are not as good when there.

  2. Lonely Planet.

No 1 by a mile for me.

  3. personally Michelin. but I don't think Mr Michelin has one for whole Europe.

  4. I believe DK guide books are the best.

    Look here: http://us.dk.com/static/cs/us/11/travel/...

    Have a wonderful trip! :)

  5. For European travels, choose Eyewitness Travel Guides or Insight Guides.

For Asian and Pacific travels choose Lonely Planet Travel Guides or Insight Guides.

    For American travels choose Fodors.
