Hawthorn and Geelong dont play each other till round 17 on the 25 July

Last time they played was round 4 in 07 on the 21 April

During that time the Hawks will play a few clubs four times in regular home and away fixtures

What are these guys thinking I think all AFL fans want to see these teams line up against each other.

This affects all AFL clubs and there chances of September glory, surely there must be a better way to construct the draw make it even for all clubs. I understand its now a business but you dont get an award for businees efficiency at the end of September you win the bloody comp!

Stop doctoring the draw and make it fair for ALL clubs

  1. The AFL make the draw obviously, which person, not so sure but he barracks for the pies i think.

The draw is made to give the AFL the maximum amount of money they can make on games, it's uneven, therefore unfair.

it can only ever be fair when each team plays each other twice, that will never happen with these new teams coming in, unless they get rid of the pre season c**p(cup) and lengthen the season, they might have to shorten the games, but it will never be an even draw..

like the question campdog, i wish the AFL would actually have someone check our Q's and A's to get a feel of the general public's thinking.

  2. The Australian AFL commity, have a program which they use too eliminate the games that will not be played in the home and away system, they choose the following teams by picking how they were ranked and classified in the previous season, you would see that outcome of a grandfinal and the upcoming finals by the last game of the year, (which would be the Grand final) would be played firstly, and so on, it also as i said, the teams are ranked and classified in different categories which will be played against eachother, it is also how they are compared in the following year.

Wether the outcome of the two clubs at the start of the season, no matter what, it will be played seprately in the following games, the ladder of the season before will not consede of the next games of the 2007 season.

  3. yea, they should change it all around. and give each team a fair go.

  4. I believe there's a program they use.

At the beginning of each season the clubs will submit their preferences and requests and the AFL tries to build it into their selection process.

This is to avoid excessive travel eg Adelaide traveling to Brisbane then Perth in the last 2 weeks (if they make the final).

  5. I don't no but i think they should have a good look at it like always poor old pie only have too leave 4 time oh that must be so hard on them plus it is so funny as the major sponsor is a airline lol

  6. I'd say some misguided people who didnt put much thought into it.

It should go back to how it was..

(although as a Pies fan, Im happy we only have 3 interstate matches...hehehe)

  7. YEAH I GUESS THE SWANNIE GUY WAS CORRECT THEY HAVE A MACHINE WHICH MAKES THE FIXTURE.

THIS YEAR SOME CLUBS WILL PLAY EACHOTHER 3 TIMES

E.G I THINK THE MAGGIES AND THE BLUES PLAYED EACHOTHER IN ROUND 4? AND THEY WILL PLAY EACHOTHER AGAIN IN ROUND 12
