  1. I like craftmaid, because they also replace it for free it anything every happens to it! Ever! Happy shopping!

  2. I'm very partial to Johnson levels - they've been around since the 1940s, solid American company, and my 48" and 24" cast aluminum levels have stayed very true.

I also have a 48" magnesium (super light-weight) Johnson, which is good when you're trying to hold up too many things at once and a heavier wood or cast aluminum level is too heavy.  Supposedly the magnesium is more stable, but honestly, that's never been an issue for me as I try to take care of my measuring tools and not just throw them in the truck.

  3. johnson.....and they make a good 1 ft level, lol.

    lic. gen. cotractor

  4. Sands makes a good level.

I believe all of them will have levels of different qualities as per price.

I like my craftsman 12 inch plumbers level.

My old Stanley was a good level also.

    Edit:

Just how accurate can a vial level get?

I can tell you how to check one.

Lay it on a surface that makes the bubble touch one line. Focus on, and study exactly how it looks.

Turn the level around and place it exactly as you had it on the first position.

The bubble should be touching the other line exactly as it did the first line.
