  2. Hello Mr. KIA,

I'm an all around fan of Sands Levels, as I have found them to be the most accurate and long lasting, especially compared to any wooden framed level.  Hopefully the link will take you there, but it looks like they have a 72" available.  I am a ceramic tile contractor and frequently need to be plumb to the 1/32".

  3. This might sound a little stupid, but, you do!

Purchase one of sound construction. Something tubular seems to be the going thing, or tubular beam.

Then just keep in mind this is a precision instrument!

Check the edges daily for knicks and debris from usage.

Try to store it somewhere where it does`nt get knocked around.

Also, check it for accuracy every time you use it. This can be done by placing the level on a flat surface. Note the placement of the bubble. Spin the level 180 and place it back in the same spot. That bubble should be in the same place noted previously.

Have`nt seen comparablely priced devices much better than others. Gotta say for the buck I like my Stanley Big Max. Used it for about 6 yrs. Couple of the guys like their Johnsons. But in the end, level is level! That`s just how I "read" it!

  4. I have never found I needed a six foot level after twenty five years as a carpenter.

I did make a 76" straight-edge for truing door jambs for hanging doors.
