I was such a fan of the sport. It seemed like they had the best athletes, the best format, the most fights, and the most fighters... and then once it went UFC it just kind of dissipated. I really liked Bas's commentating and I liked the 10 fight cards per event. I don't think the UFC hired any of them, but they had good ref's also. Granted, in UFC 87, most of the fighters really put their best foots (I guess it's not feet if they're not on the same body) forward. However, imagine those fights in a Pride FC format. Now that would have been cool.

  1. miss pride very much and still catch shows on fox sports, they were great, more brutal to me

  2. i didn't catch pride much, but it was awesome. soccer kicks allowed and 10 min. first rounds. awesomeness.

  3. Miss some of the rules, but not PRIDE as a whole.  Wish the UFC would adopt strikes to the head of a downed opponent, but oh well.  Certainly prefer UFC rules "as is" to the old PRIDE rules.

The Affliction event last month reminded me why I hate watching MMA fights in a ring.  When guys go through the ropes 3 times in 1 fight card, you know that's not the best venue for a fight.

Besides that, as bad as the UFC judges seem to be sometimes, I certainly prefer them to the PRIDE rules and judges.  Saw some heinous decisions over there because of the "effort to finish the fight" category.  So a guy tried and missed one submission, but his face is smashed in.  Doesn't mean he won the fight.

As for the fighters, Anderson and Wanderlei, Big Nog, Cro Cop, Herring, Rampage.....most of the better fighters are in the UFC now anyway, and actually getting drug tested before fights, which is a good thing.
