  1. $1.55 per litre and climbing, speculation has it that it will be almost hitting $2 a litre by xmas. Diesel is $1.16 per litre, and road user charges have to be purchased on top of that....unsure the cost of it.

  2. Petrol currently $1.66 (58p) per litre and diesel $1.22 (43p) per litre but all diesel users have to pay a road user charge which is roughly 2 to 3 cents a kilometre. So if, for example, your car did 10 kilometres to the litre then you pay road user charges per litre of around 30 cents (11p) making the cost of diesel $1.52 (54p) per litre.

The New Zealand immigration site has some information about the cost of living in New Zealand, including a link to the online Woolworths supermarket.
