Who much should I pay a pet sitter?

I have someone stopping by my house 4 times (within 1.5 weeks) to feed my cat, maybe play with him a little and water the plants. About how much should I pay him?

20 years ago, my ex and I paid $7.00 a visit every day for a week. I would pay $10.00 to $12.00 a visit today. Isn't $40.00 to $48.00 worth it to have your cat and plants looked after for a week and a half? My neighbors paid a neighbor child $10.00 a day to look after their 2 cats.
