Question:

Who of the aboriginal community would make a good AFL coach?

Che Cockatoo-Collins has expressed his concern that there are no aboriginal senior coaches; assistant coaches; commentators or administrators in the AFL.

From my experience any retired player with any education is snapped up by the government & employed in some manner in the Aboriginal Industry.(Jackson, Long, Lewis, Narkle etc......)

  1. perhaps michael long?

  2. Nope. I can't think of anyone either.

Funny this question has had so few answers!!

  3. No-one

Chris Lewis took on coaching Swan Districts in the WAFL. He chucked it in after a couple of games - too much discipline for him.

  4. I can picture Winmar coaching, and yes those names you mentioned could all give a lot to footy in coaching circles but I have noticed that they are working in more administrative positions. It would be great to finally see an Indigenous member of our community at the helm!

  5. Polly Farmer.

He is the only successful one that I know of. He coached West Perth to a flag in the WAFL. A  long time ago, though.

  6. abos are for playing not coaching

  7. I can't think of anyone.
