Racism, racist laws and racists are responsible for the civil rights movement.  Mostly the blacks and jews got together to fight it all.  March on Washington and sit ins in many racist states.  Presidents had to respond, particularly after leaders were assassinated.

are you serious about this question?  in the united states, it was first slavery, and then jim crow laws.  let's not make a question like this an academic exercise.
