  1. No one! Qur’an is not a book authored by any human being. It is the Word of Allah (The Lord of the Universe, Creator of all that exist). The Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammed Salallahualaiwasalm 1400 years ago in the Arabic language and is preserved both in text without the slightest change as well as by memory. At the moment, there are millions of Muslims who memories the entire Qur’an to memory majority of them are non-Arabic speakers. No one owns the Word of Allah Subhanawatha’allah but He Himself.

Qur’an cannot be translated into any other language due to various reasons but what you find, as translations are in fact translations of the meaning of the Qur’an. Translations, however, are the efforts of human beings and the world of man needs copyrights and publishing rights to give these efforts legal recognition.

There are many translations of the meaning of the Holy Qur’an are available in English. I have listed a few below with the publisher’s details:

    Saheeh International

    ISBN: 9960792633

Author: Saheeh International (Umm Muhammed) [translators]

Publisher: Saheeh International, Abul Qasim Publishing House (Saudi Arabia)

    Paperback

    Pickthal

    ISBN: 0318371871

    Author: Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthal

Name: The Meaning of the Glorious Quran

Publisher: Asia Book Corp of America,157th St. Flushing, NY 11355, USA

    Paperback

    Yusuf Ali

    ISBN: 1590080262

    Author: Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Name: The Meaning of the Holy Qu'ran

    Publisher: Amana Publications

    Paperback

I do not endorse or label "authentic" any single English translation of the meaning of the Qur'an although I personally like Pickthal due to the language used.  The reason as I explained earlier the Qur'an was revealed in Arabic and it refers within itself back to the Arabic language.  Only the Arabic text & recitation is the actual Qur'an but to understand it’s meaning we can resort to reading a translation keeping in mind the human factor.

    Additional notes:

Please understand that Qur'an is unlike the Bible where you find different versions which are have varying information and each publisher has to have a copyright for his version. The Qur'an is preserved in text and context. Morover one has to recite the Qur'an with the proper Tajweed (rules of recitation) so the reading of the Qur'an is as accurate. This is a science by itself.

The Holy Qur'an is published, printed and distributed by well know organization like the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur'an. In most part of the Muslim world any Muslim can get a copy of The Holy Quran for free of   charge.

Therefore you can try to print & publish the Quran but whether you will succeed is another question. If you really need to reap the real benefit & profit from the Qur'an, my advise to you is try reading a translation and try to understand the message which is for the benefit of all mankind.

  3. For religious texts, there cannot be ownership. No body would have patented them. No body owns Holy Bible, Bhagavat Gita or Zendawasta and so on.
