i currently own a spl-1000R and my movie room size is about 7m X 4m with a open concept kitchen which is about the size of my living room. the kitchen is not directly "open" to the living, although you can see the kichen in certain angle from the living. i find the spl-1000R plays loud and deep already, but now i've an option to upgrade to 1200R. is the 1000R good enough for my living or a 1200R would make a big different in my movie experience? i'm into really punchy bass, so would the slightly bigger driver and a slightly lower 2Hz make a big different? would the 1200R be too much for my room size and cause the bass to be boomy? will the upgrade be worthwhile since i won't be driving my sub harder to produce the same amount of bass?

  1. in most situations bigger is better, however given the room dimensions that you have provided, you most likely have more than enough sub already. if you are looking to drop a little more on the low end in sound depth then the 2hz lower spl 1200r will do the trick. keep in mind though will there be enough difference to warrant the extra expense?
