Canada owns canada, its financially independent. Why would the states own any of it? At what point did the states ever have a land claim on it?

No, Canada is an independent country.  It used to be part of the British Empire but became fully independent by 1931.

Canada is a sovereign country that is "owned" by the people of Canada through its elected government of which the Queen is the titular head.

The United States does not "own" any part of Canada. For instance, its embassy in Ottawa, like ALL embassies are actually US territory while the embassy is there. It would revert to Canadian territory once the embassy is removed.

The US tried to invade and occupy Canada and thus, perhaps, "own" it in both 1776 and 1812. We defeated them and repulsed them in both wars and it's been like that ever since.
