When non-muslims insult Islam its called freedom of speech and when muslims try to say something though not insulting or immoral or offending they are not treated the same way. When the Bishop says that introducing Sharia maybe inevtible just presenting his views while not enforcing them on anyone people tell him to leave him and muslims their respective positions in UK perhaps in Europe.

WHo owns freedom of speach then. This is just a tool to insult others and nothing more. Just look at the history.

  1. That's bullshit!

What specific evidence can you present to back up your argument that 'when muslims try to say something though not insulting or immoral or offending they are not treated the same way.'

    Give us an example.

As to the Bishop he was wrong to suggest that some Sharia laws should be adopted in the UK.

  2. Since the key word has 'free' in it, then nobody would own it.

But there is a difference between freedom of speech, and a person in some small position of power trying to use that to influence change the public doesn't want. Which is what the Bishop did, and the call for him to resign was right. At least it was just to resign, not anything radical like when that teacher innocently named a teddy bear Mohamed.

Some Muslims called for her to be whipped or beheaded!

I have never seen an example where Muslims respond to an perceived insult with anything less than a recommendation for violence. Seems to be their answer for everything.

At least here in the UK, we are happy enough for the person to be dismissed from their job.

And no, I don't see all muslims following that train of thought, but certainly enough of them, and they are the ones who get all the press. So I see it as being up to the more peaceful and reasonable muslims to reign in their radicals...until this happens, there will never be any harmony between muslims and non-muslims.

  3. The individual owns freedom of speech, as well as all other freedoms. Whether or not they are used wisely is also up to the individual.

In a free society there cannot exist right or wrong. Everyone's opinion is valuable and adds diversity.

It is imperative in a free society that all views be respected. Not agreed with, but respected. Those who abuse their freedom of speech eventually find themselves alone and blowing in the wind.

Freedom of speech is most often abused by spouting hate. And everyone has hate. When persons who hate the same things gather, the problem expands geometrically. And, historically. those who desire power play on hate via their freedom of speech to amass numbers to support their need to control. Those who hate the most are easily swayed and led.

Sad but true, and its part of what makes the world go round...

    Luck!
