Who owns the copyright on the plans

If someone hires a company to design a building or a part of that building such as the plumbing or lighting, who owns the copyrights to those plans? The owner of the building or the company that designed it?

  1. As soon the Company paid for designing and drawing plans, the copy right is of that Company who paid for it, unless there is something to the contrary in the contract between the plan drawer and the Company.


  2. Work product for pay, the payer owns the copyright, unless there was something screwy in the contract.
