Guiding Light, I think the longest running soap on TV, recently changed the way it is shot to give it more of a real look. Most all sets are real houses, outdoor scenes are real with people actually driving cars down a road or walking down a real street, etc. My question concerns the house used as the Spaulding Mansion. It has beautiful vaulted ceilings and beautiful woodwork. Who owns this beautiful mansion and where is it located?

I understand if you can't give the owner's name for privacy reasons, so I'd be happy if you tell me where the mansion is located and a comment about the beautiful woodwork. Thanks.

  1. The interior (the study, hallways, that pretty spiral staircase) is part of the show's set on the soundstage at New York City.

The exterior is an actual house 10 minutes outside of Peapack, New Jersey, the "stand-in" for Springfield in outdoor scenes.

Here are some pics of it on a GL crewmember's flickr. Apparently it used to be owned by Mike Tyson as well.

  2. i think ive been inside but it was soooo long ago but i dont know if that was the one
