I'm the guy in the relationship and I usually pay for everything, but I was wondering what the "rules" for who pays for a concert are? Should I pay or should we go Dutch?

  1. the guy no longer pays for everything  but you should tell her up front that it is dutch

  2. If you always pay, you are perfectly right to tell her that two concert tickets are a bit out of your price range.  If she can pay for her ticket...she will, or you may be going to the movies instead.

  3. I think the "rules" are, you should offer to pay for everything and give her the option of paying only if she insists.

However, if you don't have a job, you may not be in a position to do this. In that case, you guys should agree to split it up front.

  4. Since this is the etiquette section I will give you the rules of etiquette answer first...according to etiquette if you invite her to a concert you should pay for the tickets, or your parents since you are under 18.  Now...on to my personal theory...if you are not working or you don't make much money and she is willing or "offers" without you asking to go "dutch" then it is OK.  You should never "ask" a girl to pay for a date, but since you are in a relationship and you usually pay for everything if she does "offer" it is OK.

    Peace & Love  :)

  5. If you want to pay, pay. If you want to go dutch tell her that up front. There is no rule. Really at 17 you could expect your parents to pay.
