So, I have to hire bartenders for my wedding. They are giving me a good deal for an hourly rate and I am meeting with them at the bar in a mexican restaurant which was the most convenient meeting place. I figure we'll have a drink while we go over details. Do I pick up the bill or do they?

  1. I would say them, because you are their customer and it is a business meeting.. meaning the business would pick it up.  HOWEVER I wouldn't count on this.  Be prepared to pay for at least yours, but I wouldn't pay for theirs...

  2. You pay unless it is a free tasting.

You should assume you pay, begin to pay, and they will likely tell you not to worry about it.

  3. If you are meeting with a legitimate bartending company or caterer, I would expect them to pick up the tab.  However, if you are meeting some people to just work the bar or freelance bartenders, then you are probably going to be picking up the tab.

  4. I would tell the cocktail waitress or waiter, when they ask, that you are all on separate checks.  Then, if they offer to pay, let them. But, you definitely DO NOT pay for theirs!
