  1. The person who wants the line - usually the tenant ! ! !

  2. i live in a rented apartment n i pay for it

  3. the tenant....

  4. tenant - its your line and the landlord doesnt have to provide you with one.

  5. The short answer is you do!

Your home may already have the wiring in place for the line, but you will still be charged, I think you can spread the cost of the connection but I'm unsure how!

    Hope this helps?

  6. It is usually down to the tenant to pay for this, unless you have a very nice landlord!

  7. Normally it is the tenant, but there is a way this can be shared by having a split line with two seperate numbers.

  8. tenant unfortunately.  check however that the previous tenants havent had something like virgin cable phone. this is what happened to me, bt wanted £125 to transfer my old number as the bt line had been disconnected at the new house, however found they had had a virgin phone and the box was there. they didnt charge me anything to  connect the phone and its cheaper per month.

  9. The tenant...you dont have to connect,  use your mobile

  10. You the tenant will have to pay the installation fee unless you've had a Bt landline in your name in the last 12 months.

  11. if you are wanting the line then i would say you  the owner does not need to supply you with a telephone line if its not in the lease contract

  12. why do you have 2 pay connection, i never had to, i just paid a refundable deposit of £50 which was only because of my credit score. Say your a student it may go in your favour, buy the way that's not what i said, i just never paid connection, they never asked for it or added it to my bill.

  13. The tenant will, this is because the owner of the property has no idea if you require a land line, or which service provider you may wish to subscribe to. I own a couple of houses  and I refuse the tenants to have Virgin installed as their contractors are cowboys, also all the telephone wiring has been installed by BT and as part of the tenant agreement with me, no alterations of the houses( including decorating) can go ahead without  my approval. I also insist that I know who their bills are with, so if they disappear without paying anything ( I found out the hard way) I am not held responsible for their bills.
