so you pay for dinner with a credit card and the waitress brings you your receipt and copy to sign for them, you sign it, put it back in the black folder thingy, you leave it on the table and walk away... who gets it from there??? the waitress or the guy who comes to clean the table off??? who actually picks up the black thingy with the signed receipt in it when you leave???

  1. It depends...but uuuusually the waitress does. They gota put it in the register...the bussers dont do that. If I'm leaving a cash tip...i hand it to the waitress/waiter. B/c you never know if the bus boy will grab that! u will never know who got it if u leave!

  2. The waitress comes back and gets it. I usually wait to make sure he or she does.=)

  3. I'm a waitress... it's us most of the time. Where I work, on busy nights (which are the only nights that we don't clean our own tables), if the busser gets to the table first, he cleans around the books and leaves it sitting there for the waitress to get.

Unless he's a scumbag, but he really can't do anything about credit card tips. If it's cash you're leaving on the table, however, and they're crooked, they'll usually take a small percentage of it.

A busser where I worked was stealing cash tips from the servers. But most waiters/waitresses grab it first, if they're smart. I personally hand my tips to the waiter/waitress so I know they get it if it's in cash.

  4. Depends on the restaraunt but 97 percent of the time it is the waiter because the people who clean the tables dont handle money
