Who plays volleyball? why do we have to wear spandex?

ik this sounds like a very ammaturish ? but i have been playing vball for four years so i am not an early begginner. Why do we have to wear spandex?

they r short and tight and they look like underwear.

i wear them to every practice and all my tournements but i always wondered.

what is it about spandex that helps us play better?

what is wrong with normal shorts?

It's a combination of what everything has been said before:

1. Flexibility

2. Aerodynamics

3. Not riding up

And:

4. They cling to your body so things won't accidentally touch the net resulting in a fault.

hahaha i know right i hate wearing them they make my love handles stand out!! but it does help cuz we can move betteer in them cuz theyre tighter

they r more airo dynamic than regular shorts, and they have more flexibility. i think thats one reason y LMS beats my school at the track and field events every year, cuz they have spandex and spikes in their shoes, and we have neither. its a lot about airo dynamics. however idk if im spelling that right im sry. maybe its aero dynamic, idk.  less air resistance if they r more aero dynamic u can go faster jump higher and so on

I've played with both shorts and spandex and I have to say that with all of the movement that goes on, from lateral to jumping, diving and rolling, spandex is just a lot easier to move in. It's flexible and it has a better resistance to dry heat and oil.

Most teams wear spandex because if your clothes, hair, or any body part touches the net it is an automatic point for the other team.

Idk.I just started playing volleyball and im in 7th grade and i didnt even know what they were til i saw the older girls wearing them i was like what the c**p are those? Lol now i know what they are!

that's a good question. i think its because it won't move around so much, so during the game we wont be aranging it, and will stay focused in the game. also the look better with the uniform.

slides on the floor good. the fact that it is tight means that there is a less chance of it falling down. we wouldnt want that would we?

Its easier to move in and regular shorts slide up when you fall.
