  1. Both the military and the state department have people who are assigned to act as bodyguards in low-threat areas.

    In places like Iraq 'HVTs' (High Value Targets) have either military police or infantry escorts or - in the case of the State Department - contract with Blackwater International for bodyguard services.

I don't think it's too smart to ask a question like this, because the answer would be a threat to their security... so don't be surprised when the guys in the black suits with dark sun glasses pull up in their Chevy Surburbans and come knocking at your door, toss you in the back of their SUV and take you down to their office to discuss just WHY you are interested in the security measures taken for top military and political people.
