  1. Archimedes, of course.

Oh, what a moment that must have been!

I think of the great Archimedes everyday and look down to check if i got my trousers on!! It would be too late already because i remember to look only after i stepped out of the front gate!

    ha, ha.

  2. the answer is Archimedes as other people have already answered, this may seem strange to us but in Greece at the time men used to exercise naked, ie run in the street and at the first Olympics the contestants would have been knacked, so it would have not been as shocking to local residents as it is now a days.

  3. Archimedes, once he'd realised that he displaced water when he got into a bath filled to the brim. Good discovery, but I'm not sure how people took to seeing him running naked through the streets, with his Archimedes "s***w".

    Sorry, had to do it

  4. Archimedes! I think 'eureka' is Greek for 'I got it!'

  5. Archimedes

  6. Archimedes ~ means "I've found it" ~ (and I guess everyone could see it !!!)

  7. Archemidies - he had discovered 'displacement'.  Having sat down in his bath, he noticed the water level rise.  He figured that the volumn of a body could thus be determined by the amount of water displaced.  Something like that and something also to do with a gold crown, which I think belonged to the King of Sparta (a guy you really do not want to mess with) who thought it's weight had been made up with lead.  Anyway, Archemidies worked out the displacement weight volumn of the King's crown and etc.  How the h**l this determines the amout of lead mixed with the gold is beyond my ken.
