I love poker and made some real good oney doing it in the Marines, I also love to shoot pool and have made some good money doing this as well, but all in all, I love a good game of high-stakes poker, this gets my blood flowing quickly.

Whats the largest amount of money in the pot that you were playing for and did you win?

  1. I was in a wild $200 max buy-in NL Holdem game at The Flamingo in Vegas a few years ago. Things were going my way - in fact really, really my way, as I had built my stack to an incredible $2500+.

What's more incredible is that there was a wild, aggressive, bluffing-all-the-time drunk who also had built up a stack that size! Everybody else had like $100 to $400.

So this hand comes up between me and the lucky drunk where I flop middle pair and I figure I'll give him a chance to bluff off some chips. So I check and he checked, Turn was an insignicant small card and I try again but it goes check-check again. However the river makes a straight possible so I check again and then he goes All-in. Keep in mind there is about $36 in the pot and he is betting $2500.

I really wanted to call him. Every fiber of my being screamed call with second best board pair and take that giant stack. But I wimped out and folded. Then he showed the stone-cold bluff; all he had was ace high. I racked up and called it a night.

That hand haunts me and always will.

  2. Hey man

I remember when i was 16, i had been playing for a year and i decided to try it out playign against some ofmy dads friends and him also in a pub after hours.

It was a £30 buy in, with all players allowed 2 re-buys.

    8 players. no limit hold-em.

all i remember was the non stop abuse as i took pot after pot off of these "experienced players" who continuously commented on my age.

I remember knockingout the same guy 3 times lol, then him getting the ump and saying it was stupid that i was playing lol.

anyways, after i knocked my dad out i went on to play this other guy, and got involved with a hand which had raise after raise. For some reason i cannot re-call, i called an all-in with Ace high and took down a £360 ($720) pot at the age of 16 lol.

I love reliving that moment lol, although its not the biggest pot i won, it was very memorable. I will never forget that lol. Almost as good as the time i played Anthony Hardy and knocked him out :)

thanks for letting me get that out lol

or should i look for a 500k pot that happened a week ago

  4. I love poker too, though, I probably wouldn't be considered a high roller.

The biggest pot I ever played for was $400.

It was Texas Hold 'Em and I was short stacked.  I was dealt A-4.  There were a few raises before me, but by the time it was my turn I was pot committed and went all in.  I was called by a guy with pockets Jacks.

I rivered an ace to beat him.

This was a cash game, not a tournament.
