Who really is running the Republican Party?

Security would be out.  All they did was rile up the middle east and creat even more hostility towards us.  Fiscal? LOL .  Social?  No, not really conservative there either.

I lost respect for the GOP when the "Cheney Republicans" took over, with DeLay and Rove, etc.  They hoodwinked and co-opted the religious right, the social conservatives.  The social conservatives have gotten a lot of sound and fury and going-nowhere initiatives from the Admin, but little concrete done.  Meanwhile the Cheney Republicans have used them to make the top 1% richer and the rest of us poorer.

The social conservatives, many blue collar, have been cheerfully scr@wed over by the guys they elected.

Karl Rove has turned over leadership of the Republican party to Steve Schmidt.  He picks a few bumper sticker slogans, waves the flag, calls Democrats names, and Republicans are on board.  Fortunately for him, Republicans don't think about these things a whole lot, so his job is really pretty easy.
