Who really runs the country; Banks, "the people" or the government (lol)?

Due to the current resession and the talk of more war on the horizen, have we lost control of our society? Some would argue that we are being "dumbed down" and the idea of free thinking is replaced with national curriculums and empty pass times. What can we do to regain any sort of control?

Global economy.

Crime is heavily related to poverty.  There is more crime in poorer areas.

Governments do what that can (or at least make out they do) but a recession and unemployment will change this country more than anything else.

People may go on about immigration, but the only reason immigrants come here is becuase of our economy.

The Corporate World manipulates Goverments. (well especially the G8 countries. China and Russia and a few others dont allow this. Hence their economys are goverment controled market.

This is a great question!

The banks control the Country (UK) because industry has been so decimated by the Government encouraging the import of products, this means all imported goods are subject to the exchange system ,banks make a fortune.

This system is perpetuated by the Government(thats why we are not in the Euro, if we where big chunks of banks exchange revenue would disappear) in return for reckless lending to keep the retail sector on its feet.

The products are largely retail and bought on credit, banks make a fortune.

The Nation is being dumbed down for lots of reasons, probably the most well understood one is that it makes the population easy to manipulate. They believe what they are told and dont have the understanding to rationally question things. They are apathetic, confused and feel powerless when they are constantly bombarded with a new issue on a daily basis, lost records, terrorism, recession, NHS, Benefit fraud the list goes on & on, with non of them ever addressed. Its like someone asking a question, and before it can be answered asking another, all focus is lost.

This is a well known political strategy.

the manipulators of fortunes the ones involved in the companies who own through other companies many other houseold names that we do  know and of course who are wrapped up within this yes our own polititions of course

This country is now being run as a business not as a country anymore so profit has gone before reason and individualism is being squashed into national conformity

It looks like the courts are becoming more and more political, as the paranoids in congress have unclear poll results, and give it up to the men in the black robes.

Despite this trend, the people are more in charge than government, thank god..
