Who reckons Brian Ashton should be sacked?

I can't believe everyone is continuing to blame every bad England performance on Jonny Wilkinson. The root of the problem is Brian Ashton's bad coaching who has no idea what he wants England to do on the pitch and hasn't a clue what he is doing.

  1. "Out with the old and in with the new" should be his motto.......unfortunately, he sticks with mostly the same players, the same game plan that other nations now know.........even Wilkos drop goals can be read most of the time!

  2. Not me

Give him a chance to re-build a team.

When I hear names like Catt , Dalliago , Wilkinson ... these guys have been around since the ark. In their day top flight players (Dalliago one of my all-time favourites) but history has shown us again and again that the "old fellas hanging on for one more season" is more deteremental than every now and then taking to the team "with a broom" and starting afresh.

  3. Brian Ashton should coach and nothing more. he is good at his specialities such as when he was the the attacking coach we achieved great success and had some superb creativity to our play. now that attacking flair has gone and why because he is focusing to hard on other elements of the international game, including fitness, defence and he is even in charge of finding the correct medical and rehabilitation staff. This is a strain that he has not thrived upon despite us reaching the world cup final which was argueably achieved on the backs of our senior squad members and i believe it was them whom took charge in the dresssing room and this is why Catty and Delage were quick to critisize his methods. Jonny is still world class but is off form and young guns like Cipriani should definately be given there oportunities. But even this decision seems to have been forced upon Ashton as he really doesnt seem in control  of his squad anymore.

  4. wot u mean the same brian ashton who within 6 months got us to the world cup final??!! so wot if the 6 nations aint goin so well.. who'd replace him anyway??

  5. tough one i,m still undecided.but he does seem to be a different man since the world cup.it  he,s dropped corry ,lewsy, and lost dallaglio maybe your right

  6. Ashton is a muppet, but Wilkinson played like a moron against Scotland

  7. Brian Ashton seems a fairly good Rugby coach and is enthusiastic about the game. However Ashton is a product of another era. The game has moved on to a different faster way of playing. Yes I can hear all the supporters saying we got to the final of the World Cup, just a few months ago.

True, but in a short space of time, the game has evolved to another level which means England are again being left out in the cold. You have the players, just look at the youngsters in Heinkein who play a flowing style of play every week.

Ashton is a product of a bygone era, who must go, or England will continue on a downward spiral.

  8. He has had a chance to rebuild. He is simply not up to the task at hand. Young English talent is being squandered.

How can Gatland in the space of a month, pack up and move from the other side of the planet, step into a new job, new country, new staff, new toothfuckingbrush, and now be looking down the barrel of a grand slam?

Ashton is not the man for the job - probably never was.

Time to move on and make a positive change England.
