also kitchens that weren't fitted and often had those great ply-wood type high cupboards with doors at the top (with plastic glass in them ), a flap down bit in the middle and storage under that?

  1. lol I do we used to have a yellow one with little flecks of black in it.  yes there was always the obligatory ball of string in there too.

  2. Our kitchen table was covered in sticky Fablon.  No washing machine, no dryer, no freezer, no fridge, no central heating and no TV until I was 11 years old!

Would I swap now for going back? absolutely.

  3. Me!  My family still have that table, green top, black edge and chromed legs. Lots of memories <sigh> I'm sure it's over 40 years old and still looks as new, unfortunately matching chairs didn't fare as well, lol

  4. Could hardly forget. Ten years ago when my dad died the house was still like that, and all the electric sockets still had round pin plugs. All the original Victorian doors he covered in hardboard.

Mum never had a washing machine in her life.

  5. Hi!! Yes i do and they were very good because everything was at hand . one didn`t have to remember where you had put things. The paper bags were re-usable not like today, having tLife was very simleo wrestle with almost "un-getatable" wrappings. Pity we can`.go back to those times

  6. Ah, the 70's!!

Although the sandpaper and string thing is as pertinent today as it was then, but now we also have two old mobile chargers that we'll never use again but just can't quite throw away....

  7. that more or less describes my nan's kitchen...
