  1. Our neighborhood playground used to have them in the summer.  Neighborhood kids would be holding their long list of items in their hands and running all over town all day long - it was great fun.

  2. We still have them. They can really be fun at a 40th birthday party especially if you have understanding forewarned neighbors. You send two teams of party goers out and each team is assigned one side of the street to get the items on the list.

  3. That's how I remember them too.  Maybe you can put things like catalytic converters and leftover copper tubing on the list too.  haha

  4. i still have them, try being 200 pounds over weight and trying to find your p***s, its a hunt every time

  5. I dont think people are as receptive to open their doors for you these days and hand you things for your collection.

I did them when I was young and they were moderately fun.

Im glad Im not invited to participate today.

  6. The last time I went on one was 1944' The group that got all the stuff on the list fi

  7. That was a favorite at outdoor parties, even now at family reunions we have them

    Feather scavenger hunts

Something the pioneers used scavenger hunt .

    Something native americans(indians)used scavenger hunt

Now they are getting more sophisticated

Little guys can come up with some dozzy indian and pioneer stuff.

  8. I remember hearing about them, but never did have the opportunity to participate.

  9. Last one I went on was probably around 1965-1967. One of the 7th or 8th grader parties where you were still learning to dance slow. They actually had glass bottles of Coke and sometimes a "rock" band made up of your friends.

Just an excuse to run around town on foot although there was a competition feel to it. Later, if the parents weren't paying attention, it could turn into a " make-out party". Music we danced to was likely BJ Thomas rendition of " I'm so Lonesome I could Cry"( one of his first records) or Roy Orbison, Beach Boys, Beatles etc.

Was a lot of fun and thanks for jogging my memory.

  10. Ahh yeap ! . . .No Indian stuff though  . . . I used to hide the kids birthday presents this way when they were little . . I would hand them a card with a clue that would lead them to another clue and so on.  Once they found the present and had it in their hands, they would always say . . ."Hide it again Mom, that was fun !"

  11. Some of the kids in my neighborhood still have them around Halloween, but the lists usually are Church related.  Sorry kids, but I don't have an old copy of The Ensign, or something from the ward camp out, but I do have an old ward directory.  Sometimes they go on a scavenger hunt for particular foods which are donated to the local food bank and I can always help them out there.
