  1. I remember it, but I don't recall watching it that much!

I think it was on on a Sunday afternoon (?) and we frequently used to go out for lunch on Sunday's.

  2. My mum doted on that show and was actually going to call me was it Gavin or Darren, one of the guys from loveboat she was going to name me after - she wanted a boy.

  3. With the midget and the other bloke in charge? Yeah I think we are giving our ages away!

  4. I remembered the title, but not the show itself.

    That is brilliantly naff, Lol.

I love the naff song, and it had someone called Skip Stephenson in it. (What a great name!)

You`ve given me a good laugh watching that.

Was Marion Ross, that`s in it, the one that played the mum in "Happy Days"

  5. its was in a rubbish sort of way, it made cruises look very romantic at the time. and i am sure people went on 1 because of the programme. although if i saw it today, i would think how mushy and unrealistic it is.

  6. I do, watched bits of it

  7. its had good guest stars

  8. You mean the "lust" boat as I heard a preacher once call the show?

In 1977, when the show first aired, I was a somewhat starstruck and romance inclined "sweet 16", so I gotta admit watching it each week was one of my guilty pleasures lol. Yeah, that show did fuel a lot of fantasies, and it got me through quite a few dreary Ohio winters.  It also made me want to go on a cruise for "romance" but the closest I'd ever gotten to taking a cruise was going on the decidedly unromantic ferry from Seattle to Victoria, BC, and also the one going from Long Beach to Catalina Island hahaha.

    Maybe someday...

Mind you, I thought Isaac and Gopher were kinda cute hee hee.  I liked Capt. Steubing, too. I remember when he was Murray on the Mary Tyler Moore show. Didn't have a real opinion of the doctor.  Julie the cruise director got on my nerves though. She's almost as nauseating as Kathy Lee Gifford!

I guess I outgrew the show after awhile, but to me the show really jumped the shark when Dr. Steubing's daughter was introduced on the show. Nothing against the actress herself...but think about it: a little kid living on a cruise ship that was pretty much a floating orgy? Get real...

Now mind you, some won't admit this, but there are a lot of people out there who were teenagers during that time, and who can probably remember their high schools having cruiseship themed dances and proms because of the popularity of that show at that time. A lot of newlyweds took cruises, too, because of the show.  It certainly was good for business for the Princess Line.

Besides, without the Love Boat where would the careers of celebrities like Scott Baio or Charo be?

    cuchi cuchi!!

    AHAHAHAHAHA

EDIT:  Can you believe someone actually put a list of the LB guest stars at Wikipedia? someone has waaaay too much time on their hands lol

    ANOTHER EDIT:

and yes, I'll even admit to watching Lawrence Welk with my mom back then lol. I actually was supposed to audition for their dinner theater in Escondido, CA in 1984 but I lost my nerve at the last minute...one of my all time regrets.

  9. OMG...YES I used to watch that...I ADMIT IT LOL!!!!

  10. Never heard of it, I googled it and oh dear...........

  11. must have been way way way way before my time ;)

    edit

    LOL pure cheddar I see!

  12. It was corny like everything else on TV at the time. :)

We used to watch it all the time to see who the guest stars would be.  I wasn't old enough to be out clubbing, so we would watch the Love Boat at 9:00 on a Saturday night followed by Fantasy Island at 10:00 on ABC.

My family doctor at the time looked like Gopher, only older.

Really sad that I can remember the time and channel.  lol

  13. yeah, I think it was after sunset beach...watched a few episodes but I couldn't handle so much rubbish!

sunset beach was bad enough.... (memories of Ben's evil twin.lmao)

  14. Yeah, I remember that, I was living in Africa at that time.  As you say, looking back it was a bit corny .... aaahhh the good old days !!

Dallas, Knots Landing ... who can remember anything else on around that time ?

  15. Gee thanks for reminding me....I'd managed to block it out for years then you go & remind me.....

  16. No.

It was rubbish, in a rubbish sort of way!

  17. I hated it. It was probably the last thing a ten year old boy wanted to watch

  18. There was only one good thing about that show an actress that came on occasionally. She was on room 222: Charline something.
