"We are there at the invitation of the Iraqi government. This is a sovereign nation," he said at a White House press conference.

  1. They invaded Iraq, overturned the government, and installed another one to their liking, and then said "We are there at the invitation of the Iraqi government". He has a strange sense of humour, whatever one might think of the invasion of Iraq!

  2. haha, yeah well he has not told the truth yet, why should he start now?

  3. I suppose that I don't see the real point of your question. I do remember Bush making that statement but Iraq did not ask us to leave. Now that things are settling down and the Iraq forces are doing a very good job at securing their own nation we are in negotiations with the Iraq government over when they feel confident enough to pull out.

The way I see it we are doing exactly has Bush had said we would.

Now, I support the war effort but I think the one thing that the war has done is to make Iran more of a real threat since Saddam is no longer in power and it was really him that kept Iran back. Yes Saddam was an evil man, killing his own people with chemical weapons but Iran knew he was crazy which instilled some level of fear in them.

  4. There you guys go again, mis-quoting the President. Well, actually, you're taking that out of context, well, he never actually said that, it may have been his evil-twin....well, it doesn't matter anyway since we can't leave until we find those WMD's.

(I wonder just how many Republicans will respond to this. I can't wait to see how foolish they make themselves look)

Oh, and to directly answer your question: I do remember that quote (and the smirk he had on his face when he said it).

  5. The invasion of Iraq never had anything to do with Iraqi sovereignty, so why should it now?

  6. For the life of me I don't see where it says they are telling us to leave. I would love for one of you liberals to point out exactly where it says that.

  7. Yes,i remember it, the fact that we are discussing these kinds of issues with the Iraq government shows the high degree of success we have had in Iraq, looks like we will be bringing out some troops soon. The Iraqu government has not asked us to leave we are in negotiations as to how to do it safely, I see no contradiction to what Bush said.

  8. We must make the area secure before pulling out! Iraq is making these statements for political gains we must not endanger soldiers or civilians for political gain even in the U.S. like Obama is doing!!!!!!

  9. I don't remember.
