  1. Janis Ian performed "At Seventeen".

  2. Janice Ian wrote & recorded "At Seventeen" and performed it and another original tune on the first episode of SNL in 75 (the late great George Carlin hosted).  That was her only "hit" and she still performs in clubs and venues nationwide.  I belive the song was pretty much her "teenage anthem" and a reflection of her own teen years.  I saw her perform about 5 years ago and got the chance to speak with her.  At about 3AM one of my night shift employees called and said a lady had left a package at my business for me (the business was open 24-7).  It turned out "the package" was several of her CD's; I had given her my business card and she looked the business up after she had finished her show and decided to drop off the CD's and a really cool note.   It was pretty cool to see the SNL rerun of the first show, not only because I've been a huge Carlin fan for years but also to see Janice Ian as she was 33 years ago (before I had a clue what SNL was).
