Who should I call to get rid of foul odor in home?

We just noticed a foul odor in our upstairs hallway in a very specific place. The bedrooms/bathrooms don't have the smell, just the hallway. There are two vents nearby but it is hard to tell if the odor is coming through these. It smells like stinky fish (we haven't been cooking any). The odor is very strong. What specific business should I call to check it to investigate this?

You could call a handyman svs. or heat & vent co. to make sure there are no dead rodents in vents.

if there is a bathroom in that hallway and it is tiled you may have a bad wax ring at the base of your bowl or mold.if it is a pungent odor something may have died in the walls , duct work , fan , intake , or exhaust !   its a dead mouse. the good news is it aint mickey

There are companies that do crime scene clean up.  I would think if anybody knew how to clean up smells, it would be those kind of people.
